Ruma Banerjee holds an MA in Psychology and a Post Graduate Diploma in Community-Based Rehabilitation (CBR) from the University of London, with over 40 years of experience in the disability sector. As Senior Vice Chairperson of Seva-in-Action, established in 1985, she has advanced inclusive education through policy development, teacher education and government partnerships, working closely with the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA), the Ministry of Education and state governments. She is a member of the Central Advisory Board on Disability (CABD), Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment.
Internationally, she was the only non-disabled person selected from South Asia by the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency for UNCRPD training, consulted for Disability and Development Partners, UK, and contributed to UNESCO's 2019 publication N for Nose. She is also the founder of Quizabled, a pan-India knowledge and quizzing platform empowering children and adolescents with disabilities through accessible learning, participation and opportunities to showcase their abilities.
